Napier Ice Rise

Napier Ice Rise (69°14′S 67°47′W / 69.233°S 67.783°W / -69.233; -67.783) is an ice rise in the southwest portion of Wordie Ice Shelf, western Antarctic Peninsula, 12 nautical miles (22 km) northwest of Mount Balfour. Surveyed by Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) in November 1958. Named by United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) after John Napier (1550–1617), Scottish mathematician who invented logarithms and published his first tables in 1614.
