Müyorbir

MÜYORBİR had been established by its 51 founder members under the 42nd section of the Intellectual and Artistic Works Law numbered 5846 as a Neighboring Rights Collecting Society. MÜYORBİR was founded in 2000 and became a legal entity through Republic of Turkey Ministry of Culture and Tourism’s approval in 19.04.2000.[1]

MUYORBİR represents Turkish music repertoire represents 95% of the recorded productions of Turkish Music Industry. MÜYORBİR is the only collective society in Turkey in its field that has the power to give authority to the users of the music content which is mentioned in section 80 of Intellectual and Artistic Works Law on behalf its members.[1]

Contents

Activities

  • To follow, protect, administrative and judicial ways to apply members' rights.
  • To collect fees and compensation arising from the use of members’ performers and then To create the corresponding schedule.
  • To make contact administrative and professional relationships with domestically and abroad, public institutions and organizations, real and legal persons of private law.
  • To create professional publications; to open courses about field of activity to members and non members
  • As a result of the General Assembly’s resolution to establish social institutions, tavern to open and operate them, for members, to set up relief funds and to perform other social services
  • To checks and monitoring to be used for commercial purposes of copies of members performers and take necessary measures for prevent unauthorized use.
  • To work in for resolve disputes and, making and implementation agreements relating to the use of members' performers and to cooperate with professional association in in related fields.[2]

International Relations

MÜYORBİR was adopted to SCAPR (Societies´ Council For The Collective Management Of Performers Right) membership the General Assembly’s unanimously in the 35th General Assembly. MÜYORBİR-SCAPR relations has started in 2009 and MÜYORBİR had attended as an observer in the 34th SCAPR General Assembly in Madrid. MÜYORBİR thus has had the power to international representation and has been recognized by all Music Performers’ Collective Society.[citation needed]
