Legacy
The book served as the basis for the 1997 film Amistad, directed by Steven Spielberg and starring Anthony Hopkins as John Quincy Adams, Morgan Freeman as an abolitionist, Djimon Hounsou as Cinqué, and Matthew McConaughey as Roger Sherman Baldwin, their lawyer.
