- Musholla
-
In Indonesia, a musala (from the Arabic 'musalla') is an Islamic prayer room found in shopping malls, airports, offices and other sites, as well as standalone buildings.
Mushollas are not mosques. They are used to perform Salat, the five-times-daily Islamic prayer, and will typically include facilities for performing wudu prior to praying.[1] Mushollas in large buildings can be spacious, with capacity for 500 people, and some buildings contain more than one musholla, as well as providing separate rooms for male and female visitors, and waiting rooms.
Mushollas do not have imam leadership, but some have Rohis (derived from 'Rohani [spiritual] Islam'), who organise koran recital sessions and other religious educational activities.[citation needed]
Barack Obama, 44th President of the USA, was noted to have attended the Musholla Al-Rahman near his home in Jakarta as a child.[2]
