Mundlapadu is a village in Penuganchiprolu mandal, Krishna District, Andhra Pradesh, India located from 2 km away from NH9, 63 km from Vijayawada. It is about 3 km south of Penuganchiprolu 16 km north of Nandigama.It is under Jagayyapet Constituency.

Historical Details

This village is also famous for its great heritage and culture. Sri Ramalingeswara Swami Devalayam is very famous.The presiding diety is Sri Parvathi sahitha Ramalingeswara Swami. The temple has200 years of history. Apotheosis Sree sachidananda swami built this before his Jeeva Samadhi (people who keep themselves in the tomb before their death).

Population and political view:

The population of this village is around 3500. Agriculture is the main occupation of the people here.A few years ago the name of this village was reportedly MUNULAPURI.It was a place of ardent Jains so many years ago. Mundlapadu is also famous for its great blend of Telangana and Andhra heritage and culture. It is in Jagayyapet Assembly Constituency.It is politically very active.

Sri Mundlapati Ramanadha Rao(1922-2011) one of the famous freedom fighters/leaders/social workers, well known as 'Vakkapodi Pantulu Garu ' hailed from this village.He worked with his Contemporaries, Muktyala Raja ( Vasireddy Ramagopalakrishna Maheswara Prasad, fondly called Projects Prasad , Padma Bhushan Dr K.L.Rao (Ex-Central Minister and well known Engineer)and Sri Kakani Venkata Ratnam(Ex.Cabinet Minister).Owing to his boundless endeavor for the betterment of this village, this village is now a prosperous one with all basic requirements like Transport, Education, water, Electricity etc.
