'Mundankavu' is a village situated 2 kilometres (1.2 mi) from Chengannur in Alappuzha district, Kerala, India. It lies on the banks of the Pampa River. Historically, the "Vanjipuzha Principality" Palace was located here before it was destroyed.

This Sree bhadrakali Temple is one of the oldest temples in central Travencore and is 1.5kms north of Chengannur Town in MC road(East side) near holly river pamba. Padayani is the most important festivel during the months of March-April every year.
Padayani is also call padene is a ritual folk and is a week- long ritual dance, held with the festivals of certain Kaali temples on the banks of the holly river PAMBA in Central Travencore of Kerala during the Malayalam months of Meenam and Medam (March - April). The word means "rows of army" (from the word for military formations) The art is a symbolic enactment the victory march of Goddess Kaali over the demon Darika. The dance is performed in honor of Bhadrakali. Koolam thullal is a part of the Padayani.Kuthira, Bhyravi ( Goddess Kaali), Kalan(Kalari) (god of death), Yakshi (a goddess), Pakshi (a bird)Madan,Marutha,Antharayakshy,Sundrayakshy,Bhadrakali etc are different types of Kolam. A kolam wears a huge headgear with many projections and devices, a face mask, a breast plate etc.- Thirchittattu Mahavishnu Templedescription:
Thrichittattu Mahavishnu Temple is situated in Mundancavu of Chenganuur town in Alleppey District.This is one among the 108 Abodes of Lord Vishnu.Only eleven temples are in this category in Kerala. Thirupathi Balaji temple,Dwaraka temple, Badarinath,Ayodhya,Mathura,sreerangam Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple Trivandrum etc are from the 108 abodes of Lord Vishnu which are also known as'Divya Desams.These sacred shrines are revered by the hymns of the 'Alwars' of the first millennium CE. Thrichittattu Mahavishnu Temple, Chengannur was established by the eldest of the Pandavas-Yudhishtira. Main Temple fair (Thiru Ulsavam) is from Atham to Thiruvonam in the month of Meenam(March). Kalabha charthu festival for ten days starting from Ashtami Rohini, Sapthaham Mandala Makara vilakku Chirappu and Sree Krishna Jayanthi are celebrated elaborately. There are deities of Lord Krishna and Lord Ayyappa also in this temple.
