Mumtaz is a food group based in the City of Bradford. The group is best known for the "World famous" Mumtaz restaurant, with the original flagship site being sited on Great Horton Road in Bradford. The group recently opened a new restaurant in Leeds,[1] and is looking to expand into London, Manchester, Birmingham and Edinburgh.[2] Mumtaz has had many notable diners at its restaurants, including David Cameron, Dawn French, Shilpa Shetty and Queen Elizabeth II.[3]

Apart from restaurants, the group also has a food processing division known as Mumtaz Food Industries.

The group recently started a new take-away format, known as "Jaldi Jaldi". These Jaldi Jaldi outlets operate on a Franchise basis. The first Jaldi Jaldi outlet was opened in October 2009 with the help of family friend James Caan.[4]

Mumtaz Khan Akbar

Mumtaz Khan Akbar is founder and owner of the Mumtaz brand. He was born in Kashmir, Pakistan on February 10, 1959 and joined his family in Britain in 1972. Mumtaz Khan Akbar has since become one of the richest men in Yorkshire, with a personal wealth of £25 million.[5][6]
