Sir Muhammad Saleh Akbar Hydari, KCIE, CSI (1894 – December 28, 1948) was the last British-appointed and the first Indian governor of the Indian state of Assam. He entered the Indian civil service in 1919 and began his career in Madras Presidency. He held many administrative positions in the states and at the centre. He was appointed a CIE in 1934, a CSI in 1941 and was knighted with the KCIE in 1944. From May 1947 he served as governor of Assam until his death in 1948. He is remembered for entering accord with Nagas.
He was the son of Sir Akbar Hydari, who served as the Prime Minister of Hyderabad.
