Arjun Kumar hails from Bangalore is a Mridangam artist.[1] Born to a family of Mridangam artistes, Arjun Kumar was initiated into the art of Mridangam playing aged five by his father Sri Arjunan, who is an artist in the field of percussion, and was later mentored by Sri T. A. S. Mani for a couple of years.

Career
Arjun Kumar has performed in sabhas, music conferences and cultural festivals in India. He has also travelled to other countries like USA, France, Eastern Europe, Gulf, Singapore, Malaysia, Hong Kong, Australia and Switzerland. He has played in programs like the South Zone Hook Up and the All India Radio Sangeetha Sammelan. Arjun Kumar has played in several commercial records.

Awards and honors
He was awarded the Government of India scholarship and came under the tutelage of Padmabhushan Sangeetha Kalanidhi Sri Umayalpuram K. Sivaraman. It was Sivaraman’s father who urged Sivaraman to take him on as his disciple. Kumar became one of the youngest ‘A’ Grade artistes of the All India Radio and Television networks.
