Production
In February 2011 Manoj Manchu signed a new film with Anil Krishna, who directed flop films Asadhyudu and Junction to be produced by D. S. Rao who made flop films Drona and Kalavar King.[1][2] On 7th March 2011 the film was launched with a ceremonial Puja ceremony. Paruchuri Brothers who are writing dialogues for the film gave the bounded script to the director at the ceremony.[3] On 21st March 2011 Muhurat was held at Ramanaidu Studios in Hyderabad and shooting began.[4] The chief guest V. V. Vinayak tapped the clapperboard while Ravindranath switched on the camera.[5][6] On 25th April 2011 the title Mr. Nokia was registered for the film at the Film Chamber.[7] Manoj Manchu said that the director and producer planned for 75 days film shooting, but since they were following the pakka script, the shooting schedule has now reduced to 45 days.[8]
Casting
Manoj Manchu was first insisting on latest sensation Nithya Menen being his heroine.[9] During the launch Shriya Saran was roped in to pair up with Manoj.[10] Praneetha of Baava fame was said to play second heroine.[11] But suddenly in April 2011 Shriya walked out of the project and the producer roped in Kriti Kharbanda, who shot into fame after the release of Theenmaar.[12] There was news that the producers have dropped her on the 3rd day of the shoot[13] since she threw starry tantrums.[14] But there was also news that Shriya walked out of the project as the negotiations on remuneration were failed.[15] Praneetha too was replaced as the other heroine by Sana Khan.[16]
Soundtrack
The film score and soundtrack for the film will be composed by Yuvan Shankar Raja, which also happens to be his second Manoj Manchu project after Raju Bhai.[17] During the launch of the film, Yuvan Shankar had already tuned two of the songs,[18] while the lead actor Manoj Manchu has also written lyrics for one of the songs.[19]
