Mr. Alberto M. Carvalho (born 1965) is the superintendent of Miami-Dade County Public Schools (M-DCPS), the fourth-largest school district in the United States,^[1] with over 346,000 students. Carvalho was appointed to superintendency in September 2008, when the district had been facing financial challenges.^{[citation needed]} He was appointed the chairman of a taskforce aimed at improving teaching quality throughout Miami in 2010.^[2]
