Mozelle Britton

Mozelle Britton (May 12, 1912 - May 18, 1953) was an American Movie actress and columnist. She was born in Oklahoma City, Oklahoma, and came to Southern California when she was 17.

Career

She studied at the Pasadena playhouse and later enacted a number of roles in films produced at Fox and Columbia studios.

Personal life

She also worked as an assistant casting director at Columbia, when she met and married actor Alan Dinehart. The actor died in 1944. They had a son, Alan Dinehart Jr.

Four years later she was married to Thomas W. Gosser, engineer inventor. They separated five months before her death.

Turned to writing, Mozelle Britton turned out a daily column which was printed in a number of California and out of state newspapers.

In April 1953, Mozelle sought police aid in finding her son, Alan, whom she believed was eloping with his 16 year-old sweetheart. The pair was found the following day, unwed and broke and returned to their homes.

Death

Mozelle Britton died at the Good Samaritan Hospital, where she had been under treatment for a heart ailment. Britton's death was hastened according to Mrs Allamae Gingg, her sister by her overworking in helping stage a benefit show for the American Cancer Society in San Diego.

Mozelle and Alan Dinehart are buried together at Forest Lawn Memorial Park in Glendale, California.

Mozelle Britton left her entire $60.000 estate to her mother, Mrs Ida Belle Britton. She left her son and 2nd husband, Thomas Gasser, $1 each. In the case of her son, Mozelle Britton wrote that she acted "knowing that my mother will take care of his needs".
