Mount Machatschek (66°52′S 68°4′W / 66.867°S 68.067°W) is a prominent, mainly snow-covered mountain in northern Adelaide Island, about 14 nautical miles (26 km) southwest of Mount Velain. Mapped from air photos taken by Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE) (1947–48) and Falkland Islands and Dependencies Aerial Survey Expedition (FIDASE) (1956–57). Named by United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) after Fritz Machatschek (1876–1957), Austrian geomorphologist; joint author with E. von Drygalski of Gletscherkunde, 1942.
