Mount Grieg

Mount Grieg

Mount Grieg is a snow-covered mountain, about 800 m, with a rock-exposed west side, overlooking the southeast part of Brahms Inlet on Beethoven Peninsula in the southwest part of Alexander Island. A number of mountains in this vicinity first appear on maps by the Ronne Antarctic Research Expedition (RARE), 1947-48. This mountain, apparently one of these, was mapped from RARE air photos by Searle of the Falkland Islands Dependencies Survey (FIDS) in 1960; remapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS), 1988. Named by United Kingdom Antarctic Place-Names Committee (UK-APC) after Edvard Grieg (1843–1907), Norwegian composer.
