(2001)"Falsas esperanzas" (English: "False Hopes") is the second single from
Christina Aguilera 's debut Spanish album, "Mi reflejo". Released in2001 , the single did not chart on the Billboard Hot 100. Of much debate is whether the song is truly the second single of the album, as "Genio atrapado", "Por siempre tú, and Ven conmigo (Solamente tú) which are found on the album had been released prior. Nevertheless, those singles are Spanish versions of previous hit singes that were released before "Mi reflejo" had been created. The single is most known for being Aguilera's first original (not a Spanish version of an English hit) Latin music uptempo with tropical/salsa flavors. The song was also the theme song forTV Azteca 's telenovela "Como en el cine".ong information
"Falsas esperanzas" was written by Jorge Luis Piloto. In her first original Latin uptempo released as a single, Aguilera meets a man she seems to take a liking too. However, she is cautious, as she seems to have had relationship troubles before (perhaps after her troubles as expressed in "
Pero me acuerdo de ti "). Still she seems to like him and sets out a condition for him as she says, "..Si tú estás hablando en serio, yo te escucho amor.." (If you're talking serious, I'm listening, baby). Nevertheless, although she lets down her guard a bit, Aguilera is still sick and tired of false hopes causing her to warn her propestive beau, "¡No me des, falsas esperanzas! No me engañes no, oh oh....¡No me digas, cuánto es que me amas! No te creo no, ooh ooh..."Track Listing
