Monfort Heights, Ohio is a community in Green Township, Hamilton County, Ohio,[1] part of the Cincinnati – Northern Kentucky metropolitan area.
The community "runs along North Bend Road with its heart at the intersection of West Fork and North Bend Roads."[2] The Geographic Names Information System of the United States Geological Survey places the geographical center at 39°11′18″N 84°35′43″W / 39.18833°N 84.59528°W[3] The community had earlier been known as "Wisenburg" or "Wisenburgh"[2][4] A post office named "Montfort" was established on 17 March 1900 with Frank Lumler as the its first postmaster. The office was named in honor of Civil War Captain E.R. Monfort, who was then the postmaster of Cincinnati. The office was discontinued on 14 September 1905[5] The name almost disappeared until the late 1920s when a name was needed for a new school district after the consolidation of three area districts and the name "Monfort Heights" was selected.[2][6][7]
A 1944 study cited a population of 250 for Monfort Heights in 1920.[8]
The United States Census Bureau has used the name Montfort Heights to define two census-designated places (CDP):
