Miss K is a cabaret character created by Melbourne performer: Klara McMurray. After her debut as part of Mayhem Cabaret #13’s Good vs. Evil, she has gone on to launch her own career as a sexy, brash, controversial, and very, very funny cabaret vixen.
Her first show: Love War Faith and a Singing Telegram (2007); was performed on rollerskates and was peppered with political propaganda and salacious satire. It was about love gone wrong with blood-stained consequences, cult obsession and the masterminds pulling the strings. Starring Klara McMurray and Bom as Captain Funk.
Her second show: IL Mio Amore ( 2008) was set after an audacious, hair-raising, undies-showing escape from prison. Miss K was forced to find a place to hide… fast. She turned to her loyal side-kick Captain Funk who suggested his home town Trieste, Italy. She headed off in search of new beginnings, greener pastures, legal anonymity and maybe even; love, but what she found was a very different story.
Think National Lampoons meets Mr. Bean meets The Naked Chef…. Italian style. The show was a philosophical, comical, musical and satirical exploration of food; loss; death; love; both requited and unrequited; and the gentle art of condom shopping in a foreign land. Miss K proved that love and hate can exist within the one relationship, and good and evil can exist within the one woman. The Show included the cooking of a traditional Italian dish.
Italy lays claim to the largest amount of internationally recognized nouns and historically important figures in the world... Miss K became one more. Starring: Klara McMurray and Bom as Captain Funk. Directed by: Suzan Alexopolous.
Hot Spell (2009), is set during a heat wave: The mercury is rising and Miss K is searching for reason. Is it The Greenhouse Effect, the apocalypse or merely the heat radiating from her knickers? As the city hits boiling point it's impossible to stay sane. The only thing that’s certain is that heads will roll.....but who's? Starring Klara McMurray as Miss K and Gumpy as Captain Funk. Directed by Susan Alexopolos.
Miss K has been seen all over Australia including Adelaide Fringe Festival, Woodford Folk Festival and Port Douglas' Carnivale Festival.
