Mirza Saleh Shirazi

Mirza Saleh Shirazi

Mirza Saleh Shirazi was the first reporter in Iran.[1] He was born in Kazerun. His newspaper, Kaghaz-e Akhbar (Persian translation of "Newspaper", was first published in May 1837.

It was published under the autocratic regime of Mohammad Shah Qajar. The objective was to communicate the decisions taken at the royal court and neutralize the activities of Fathali Shah's children, who had then made claims to the throne.[1]
