- ^ The government press release that announced the first Doer cabinet identified Ron Lemieux as the minister responsible for the Manitoba Public Insurance Act. Subsequent newspaper reports identified Barrett as the relevant minister, however, and she is listed as having held the position from October 5, 1999 to January 17, 2001 by the website of the Manitoba Legislative. It is assumed that the initial press release was in error. See "MANITOBA GOVERNMENT: Doer administration installed in office", 6 October 1999; "New office to handle Autopac's complaints", Winnipeg Free Press, 19 April 2000, A11 [identifies Barrett as minister].
