Band camp

Band camp refers to any number of summer music camps where students can go to hone their musical skills. Most often, band camp refers to a marching band camp, either with a particular marching band or as an individual traveling to a camp to hone his or her marching band skills. Band camp has been satired in such films as American Pie and .

Marching Band

In scholastic marching band settings, band camp refers to the "summer practice" sessions of the band. Commonly occurring in August, this is when the band learns the season's music and drill. This enables the band to begin performances from the start of the academic year.

Band camp may also refer to an experience independent of the school group, where a musician goes to improve their skills, much like a "baseball camp" or "football camp."
