Michael Joseph Grey is an All-American wrestler at Cornell University. He is also the first and currently only one of two four-time New Jersey State Wrestling Champions. Grey is the son of John and Judy Grey, and has two brothers. He is from Rockaway, New Jersey and attended the Delbarton School in Morris Township, New Jersey.[1]
At Cornell 2007-08: In his rookie season, Grey went 3-1 at the EIWA tournament to place third, earning an automatic bid to the NCAA tournament. A No. 7 seed at nationals, Grey earned All-American status with a sixth place finish and 4-3 record. Grey led the Big Red in wins with 42, and has a team-high 15 victories by major decision.. With a 13-1 record in dual matches, he defeated all five of his Ivy League opponents to earn first-team All-Ivy honors as well as being named Rookie of the Year. Grey opened his season by winning the Brute Binghamton Open and followed that with second-place finishes at the Body Bar Invitational and Nittany Lion Open. He also was third at the Reno Tournament of Champions and second at the Southern Scuffle.
With a career record of 157-2 at Delbarton School, Grey was the first four-time New Jersey state champion. He wrestled at 103, 112, 119, and 125 pounds. At 125 pounds, Grey recorded 120 wins by fall. He is a junior national freestyle champion and a NHSCA champ.[2]
