The newest member of the
InterContinental Hotels Group family, Hotel Indigo, is promoted as being "the industry’s first branded boutique hotel experience." The concept includes a retail-inspired design concept with changes throughout the year to keep the hotel fresh, similar to the way retailers change their window displays. Guestrooms feature murals, area rugs, fluffy duvets and slipcovers that will change periodically, while public spaces will be transformed seasonally through changing aromas, music, artwork, murals and directional signage.History
Eleven properties have opened since Hotel Indigo's launch. The first Hotel Indigo opened in
Atlanta, Georgia in October 2004, the second location opened inChicago, Illinois historic Gold Coast neighborhood in May 2005, and another Chicago area location -Palatine, Illinois - opened in November 2005. A Hotel Indigo is also planned as part of a large development project in Pittsburgh's East Liberty neighborhood.
