Mid Ulster Film Festival

The Mid Ulster Film Festival is an international film festival, established in 2004 by Mary Mullin and Roisin Nevin. Hugh Mullin and Geoffrey Sproule, film co-ordinator and technician joined in 2005. The 6th Annual Mid Ulster Film Festival took place on the 1st, 2 & 3 May 2009 - now a well-established fixture in the line-up of film events in the North of Ireland. The Mid Ulster Film Festival prides itself on bridging the gap between the studio and independent filmmaking communities. Since it’s inception, the festival has aimed to reflect the cultural, visual and narrative diversity of both international and Irish independent filmmakers through its consistently strong and exciting programming, add to this Feature Films, such as the beautiful ‘Cinema Paradiso’, ‘Nobody’s Fool’, starring Paul Newman, ‘Jean de Florette’, late night film ‘8.5 Hours’ and a Saturday matinée – ‘Cats and Dogs’ – fun for all the family.

The festival once again, boasted an eclectic program, ranging from documentaries, such as ‘¿La Verdad? – (¿The Truth?)’, Tea on the Axis of Evil and ‘Alaska Far Away’, to the colourful comedy of ‘Because There are Things You Never Forget, to the beautifully created animation of ‘From Darkness’, in all over 80 films were shown over the course of the weekend – a major feat in itself!

To accommodate these showings there was a total of four studios, 3 Studios all inside the main building at The Ulster History Park – and also - The Cinemobile – a large custom-made truck that housing a complete cinema with capacity for over 100 people.

2010 Film Festival

The 2010 Mid Ulster Film Festival is scheduled for 7, 8 and 9 May 2010.[1] The 2010 film festival has been cancelled due to lack of funding.

2007 and 2008 Film Festivals

In 2008 the Film Festival was held in An Creagán Visitor Centre near Omagh on 2–4 May 2008 and included feature films and over 50 short films, including John, I'm Sorry, foreign-language films, documentaries, workshops and seminars.[2] The Fourth festival also took place in An Creagán, on 4–6 May 2007, and featured the European premiere of Proud to open the festival. It also featured The Last King of Scotland and closed with a showing of Bobby.[3]
