Michael Matus (actor)

Michael Matus is a British actor.

Born in Borneo, Michael Matus grew up in Hong Kong, San Francisco, Sussex and Kent, where he went to school as a choral scholar at The King's School in Canterbury. He then studied History at the University of Bristol before training as an actor at the Royal Academy of Dramatic Art (RADA).

Michael has worked extensively in London's West-End where productions include the original production of Martin Guerre directed by Declan Donnellan, and in June 2011 he will appear in the forthcoming transfer of a new production of Lend Me a Tenor-The Musical ^[1]. He has also worked with the Royal Shakespeare Company, Shakespeare's Globe, the Royal Court Theatre, Chichester Festival Theatre, Shared Experience, Headlong and the Citizens Theatre, Glasgow. He is currently working with the West Yorkshire Playhouse on 'Tis Pity She's a Whore, directed by Jonathan Munby.

Michael has been nominated for a Helen Hayes Award ^[2], a TMA award, a What's-On-Stage award ^[3] and in 2003 he was a joint winner of the Olivier Award for Outstanding Achievement for the RSC's Jacobean season ^[4]

Michael lives in London. He is a keen cricket player and in 1991 founded the team, 'International Rescue CC'.
