PoliticianMichael John Barrett (born June 27, 1948 in Agana, Guam [3]) is an American politician who served as a member of the Massachusetts House of Representatives and the Massachusetts Senate.
A 1970 graduate of Harvard University and a 1977 graduate of the Northeastern University School of Law, Barrett was elected to the Massachusetts House of Representatives in 1978.[4] He ran for a seat in the United States House of Representatives in 1984, losing the Democratic primary in the Massachusetts's 7th congressional district to Ed Markey.[5]
Barrett returned to elected office in 1986, winning a seat in the Massachusetts Senate.[6] He remained in the Senate until 1994, when he unsuccessfully ran for Governor of Massachusetts.
