Prof. Michael E. Stone (b. Leeds, 22 October 1938) is a leading scholar of Armenian studies in many fields, but particularly notable in the field of early Jewish and Christian literature and the Old Testament pseudepigrapha.
Michael Stone was raised in Sydney, Australia, receiving his BA in Semitics and Classics from the University of Melbourne in 1960. From 1966 he has been instrumental in building up the Hebrew University of Jerusalem as one of the world's leading centres for Armenian studies. He has for many years been professor of Armenian Studies and Gail Levin de Nur Professor of Religious Studies. In 2004 on the occasion of his 65th birthday Stone was honoured by a collection of essays Things revealed.[1]
