Michel Bruce Colegrove was the fifth President of Hargrave Military Academy.

Biography

Michael B. Colegrove graduated from Cumberland College in 1971 with a B.S. in science. He received a Master's Degree in education from Eastern Kentucky University in 1973, and a PhD from George Peabody College of Vanderbilt University in 1981. He later served as dean of educational services and registrar at Cumberland College. In the fall of 1987, Colegrove was inaugurated as the fourth President of Hargrave Military Academy. The inaugural ceremony saw C. Roger Harris, HMA Class of 1951 and Chairman of the Board of Trustees, deliver the charge and presentation of the emblems of office: a presidential sword engraved with the names of HMA's past presidents, and a bronze cast of the Hargave seal.

Colegrove served as President of HMA until July 1989, when he resigned. The Board of Trustees placed Hargrave under three temporary vice-presidents: Ronald Sykes, Roy Byrd, and Don Sutton. Later in the summer of 1989, Andrew W. Todd became interim president. The next regular President of HMA was Thomas N. Cunningham, who became President in 1990.
