Mervyn Rolfe is a former Provost and Lord Lieutenant of the City of Dundee. During this period he chaired the Dundee City of Discovery Campaign which won the Scottish Marketing Awards Grand Prix in 1999. He served as Depute Leader of Tayside Regional Council and Dundee City Council as well as holding various Convenerships including education,[1] and was awarded the CBE in 2000 for services to local government. He is a Deputy Lieutanant of the City of Dundee and an Honorary Fellow of the University of Abertay Dundee.[2] He was Honorary Colonel to 2 (City of Dundee) Signal Sqn (Vol) from 2002–2010,[3] In 1992 he stood for the UK Parliament in the seat of Perth & Kinross for the Scottish Labour Party.[4] He is currently Chair ESEP Ltd,[5] as well as teaching Economics and Management at the University of Abertay Dundee. He is also Vice Chair of the HM Frigate Unicorn Preservation Society. He was previously Convener of the Scottish Police Services Authority,[6] an executive member of the Convension of Scottish Local Authorities, a Court member of the University of Dundee, member of the General Teaching Council Scotland and a Director of Scottish Enterprise Tayside amongst other posts. He was a co-author of a history of the University of Dundee, "Dundee a Celebration", (2007).[7] He is also a founding member of the Arab Trust,[8] a supporters organisation for Dundee United Football Club.
