- 4 In 1977, Liberal MLA Peter Hughes and Australia Party MLA Maureen Worsley left their parties to become Independents.
- 5 In 1977, the Australia Party became the Australian Democrats; Australia Party MLA Ivor Vivian joined the latter party.
- 6 On 22 February 1978, Independent MLA Allan Fraser was replaced by Thomas Pye.
