Mello Nunatak

Mello Nunatak (72°21′S 165°3′E / 72.35°S 165.05°E / -72.35; 165.05) is an isolated nunatak standing 7 nautical miles (13 km) east of Mount Staley of the Freyberg Mountains, in the northeast part of Evans Neve. Mapped by United States Geological Survey (USGS) from surveys and U.S. Navy air photos, 1960-64. Named by Advisory Committee on Antarctic Names (US-ACAN) for Gerald L. Mello, chief engineman, U.S. Navy, petty officer in charge of Hallett Station, summer 1966-67, and member of the McMurdo Station winter party of 1967.
