Melangeia

Melangeia

Melangeia (Greek: Μελαγγεία, Polytonic: Μελαγγεῖα, Modern form: Melangia) was an ancient settlement in ancient Arcadia.

Melangia was first known by Pausanias which was founded near Nestani on the Parthenio Mountains and where he passed from the ancient roads of Klimakos (Κλίμακος) which it was known. It was the first Arcadian city which was visited by travellers. Not far from the city is the Meliaston (Μελιαστών) springs, it had the temples of Dionysos and Aphrodite. The settlement was topographically geographically located in the ancient border of the city-state of Argos and Mantineia.[1].
