Mel Didier

Melvin Joffron Didier (born c. 1927) is a former minor league baseball pitcher who later served as a baseball coach, scout and executive.

He pitched from 1948 to 1949, going 11-15 with a 6.33 ERA in his two-year career.[1]

From 1970 to 1975, he served as the Montreal Expos scouting director.[2] He was the Director of Player Development for the Seattle Mariners from 1977 to 1978. He was the baseball coach at the University of Southwestern Louisiana from 1981 to 1982 and the athletic director in 1982. Didier served as the Director of Player Development with the Arizona Diamondbacks in 1998 and from 1999 to 2002, he was a special assistant to the GM of the Diamondbacks. Didier later served as the Texas Rangers' "Senior Advisor, AZ Operations & Pro Scouting."

He is currently a special advisor to the Toronto Blue Jays.[3]
