YU+ME:dream
YU+ME:dream is a manga-styled (in the beginning of it) webcomic about a teenage girl called Fiona who spends all her time dreaming, until she meets Lia, who she falls in love with. The webcomic won the second Queer Press Grant from Prism Comics which allowed Gedris to publish the first collected volume of the series.[1]
The main character of the series, Fiona lives with her father and stepmother Elizabeth. She is frequently bullied by her classmates at West Catholic High. She discovers strange feelings towards the girl who has moved next door, Lia. When she meets the openly gay Jake, a somewhat crazy boy with green hair, she discovers that girls can be in love with girls, and begins a relationship with Lia. However, during a school dance, Fiona is revealed to be a coma induced hallucination. Fiona's coma was caused by an attempted suicide, a result of recovering repressed memories of her mother's suicide when she was four years old. When Fiona awakens from her coma and goes back to Dreamworld, she goes on a hunt to find Lia once again.
I Was Kidnapped By Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space
Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space (also known as I Was Kidnapped By Lesbian Pirates From Outer Space and LPFOS) centers on Susan Bell, a 1950s secretary who is kidnapped by a group of lesbian pirates, the humorous and risqué situations that develop as she lives with them, and her realization she too is homosexual.
Gedris created the comic in 2006 as an antidote to the portrayals of lesbians in the comics media. The comic is based on the Cold War pulp novels about lesbians. She entered the Platinum Comics Comic Book Challenge and was a finalist (first place going to D.J. Coffman for Hero by Night).[2] As a result, Platinum started to publish the comic via the DrunkDuck webcomics site; in May 2008, the first story arc was sold in print.
The Lesbian Pirates are a race of Amazonesque beings who come from an unnamed planet only referred to as Homeplanet or Lesbos-3, which is part of the planetary system of Lesbos. Early in the narrative, it was not clear why they were kidnapping girls, until it was revealed that they were looking for their lost crown princess. They eventually returned the kidnapped girls.
Prism Comics has said that the comic had "laugh out loud moments in every issue".[3] The comic has been in the top 10 on Drunkduck since it was first placed there.[4]
Meaty Yogurt
Meaty Yogurt began when Yu+Me ended, October 25. As per the Meaty Yogurt website: "Jackie Monroe’s town is cursed. Anyone born there will die there, and all the time in between is riddled with nothing but calm mediocrity. Jackie is determined to beat the curse and make something of herself, or as she puts it, “Live a life someone would want to read a book about..." The tone of the story alternates between funny slice-of-life and mind-f**k."
