MegaMeeting.com, facilitates web-based conferences complete with real time audio, video, and presentation capabilities.^[1] This line of audio and videoconferencing software was developed by Southern California based Internet MegaMeeting, LLC. The MegaMeeting product line was first released in February 2004^[2] by a team of marketing and technology experts.

History

In October, 2003 Internet MegaMeeting, LLC was established by Dan Richmond (CEO) and Scott Goldman (CTO). Their first browser based web/videoconferencing system, MegaMeeting, was released in February 2004 shortly followed by the release of MegaMeeting Professional in May of 2004 and MegaMeeting Enterprise in December of 2004. September 2009, MegaMeeting.com was ranked # 401 on the Inc. 500 list of Fastest Growing Private Companies.^[3] In May 2010, MegaMeeting announced the launch of enhanced server-side recording, a new feature which provides users with the ability to record and save their browser-based video/web conferences or webinars.^[4][5]

Technology

The MegaMeeting product line use an open architecture and non-proprietary method to allow people to share information and communicate over the Internet. Running off of Flash Communication servers, all Web Conferencing done through MegaMeeting.com include videoconferencing capabilities.^{[citation needed]}

MegaMeeting.com was designed to be operating system agnostic, meaning anyone that is using a Windows, Mac or Linux based machine may participate in a web conference.^{[citation needed]}

MegaMeeting.com Personal and Professional products are all hosted on MegaMeeting.com web servers in a secure data center, using Secure Sockets Layer (SSL) 128-bit encryption.^{[citation needed]}

The MegaMeeting.com services utilize the Real Time Messaging Protocol (RTMP) over port 1935, as well as the Real Time Message Protocol (RTMPT) over port 80 (tunneling via http) and the Real Time Message Protocol Secured (RTMPTS) over port 443 (tunneling via https) to allow audio, video and text chat to securely be transmitted from computer to computer.^{[citation needed]}
