History
McCormick Taylor (formerly known as McCormick Taylor & Associates, Inc., or MTA) was established in 1946 as a consulting engineering practice, which focused on structural engineering. The company became widely respected for its design of subways, highways, bridges, rail lines, ports, office buildings, churches, schools, and hospitals. During the 1950s and 1960s, major projects completed by the firm included such Philadelphia landmarks as Veterans Stadium, the Packer Avenue Marine Terminal, the Municipal Services Building, and the Federal Courthouse.
With the enactment of the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969, the firm shifted its focus in the 1970s toward transportation planning and design, and began employing a multi-disciplinary approach to projects. The result was that McCormick Taylor emerged in the 1980s as a full service consulting engineering and environmental planning firm focused on transportation projects.
In 1989, Thomas A. Caramanico, P.E. became President and has expanded the company’s strengths and expertise. Tom earned both his Bachelor of Science and Master of Science degrees from Villanova University in Civil Engineering. His volunteer work for the university, in conjunction with his professional accomplishments, has earned him Villanova University’s Alumni Award for Professional Achievement in an Engineering Firm in 2003.
