Mawlynnong[1] is a village in East Khasi Hills district of the Indian State of Meghalaya. In 2003, a travel magazine, Discover India declared this village as the cleanest village in Asia[citation needed]. The village was declared the cleanest village in India in 2005. The village is situated between the East Khasi Hills district as and the two remote and main places in Meghalaya, often the Shillong and Cherrapunjee. The streets here have a good tidy disciplinary movement and there is not a bit of violence created there.
Tourism in Mawlynnong has just started and a few homestays have been started to benefit the locals
The way it is improving year by year, it is expected that it will start developing from now on.
