Matthew Specktor

Matthew Specktor (born December 21, 1966) is an American writer whose debut novel, That Summertime Sound, was published in August 2009.[1][2]

He received his Bachelor's Degree in creative writing and literature from Hampshire College in 1984 and holds an MFA in fiction writing from Warren Wilson College.

Born and raised in Los Angeles, his father was a talent agent and his mother was a screenwriter.  Specktor worked in film development for many years, and has written several screenplays, most notably an adaptation of Shirley Hazzard's novel "The Transit of Venus", which was optioned by Warner Independent Pictures.

Specktor's writing has appeared in Open City, Salon, and in various anthologies.

He is presently completing his second novel, "American Dream Machine," and is at work on a non-fiction book about the motion picture, The Sting.
