Matthew MacLachlan is a British freelance historian whose work is published in the national academic journal History Review, a sister publication of History Today magazine.
His work primarily focuses on revolutionary France and Napoleon's rise to and decline from power in the later Early Modern period. His work on Napoleon's downfall has been particularly criticised for its revisionist attitude to the established arguments of Philip G. Dwyer and Albert Sorel.[1]
