Rugby union career Matthew Hawkins (born March 30, 1983) is a South African born American rugby union player. Matt plays flank for the Old Mission Beach Athletic Club. He was selected to tour with the USA national rugby union team, the USA Eagles XV, for the Autumn 2010 tour of Europe. Matt earned his first cap playing for the Eagles against Russia in June 2010. Matt is the current captain of the USA Eagles 7s team.
Coaching Experience
Matt is a coach at ELITE Rugby Camp USA. Matt works directly with youth players at ELITE and helps them to improve their fundamentals and advanced techniques. Matt is dedicated to developing talent at the youth rugby level in America. Matt is present at all ELITE Rugby Camps throughout the nation. Hawkins also is the coach of the San Diego State Aztecs as of 2011.
