Matt Branam

Matt Branam is the 14th and current president of Rose–Hulman Institute of Technology.

Branam became president after serving as interim president for two years. Branam, a 1979 civil engineering graduate of Rose-Hulman, was elected president of his alma mater by the college’s Board of Trustees during a special board meeting in Indianapolis on December 4, 2009. ^[1].

Before coming to Rose-Hulman, Matt Branam managed the American Red Cross through a period of growth and change for its then president, Elizabeth Dole, as its first-ever chief operating officer. During his tenure at the organization, Red Cross operating revenue grew by 38 percent to $2.5 billion annually. Branam’s duties at the Red Cross included overseeing a network of 1,300 chapters, blood services regions, tissue services centers, major laboratory operations, field stations at U.S. military installations around the world, and the nation’s most extensive disaster relief operation. He led a turnaround in the agency’s fiscal position, led an organization-wide visioning process, and launched a brand image campaign and a strategic fundraising initiative.^[2]

Branam’s experience also includes a 24-year career with UPS (formerly called United Parcel Service) where his local job as a teenager evolved through numerous positions of increased responsibility, including the position of vice president of public affairs in Washington, D.C. A native of Terre Haute, Ind., Branam attended Indiana State University, Taylor University and Georgetown University, and graduated from Rose-Hulman.
