Mass-penny is a Mass offering by the faithful. This is usually done at the altar rail as an offertory to contribute to the purchase of the wine, bread and candles used in the Mass. The term is Anglo-Saxon in origin and was in use for more than three hundred years up to the fifteenth century. [1]
