This name uses Spanish naming customs; the first or paternal family name is Maldonado and the second or maternal family name is Valdés.Martín Benjamín Maldonado Valdés (born August 16, 1986, in Naguabo, Puerto Rico) is a Major League Baseball catcher for the Milwaukee Brewers.
Professional career
Maldonado was drafted by the Anaheim Angels in the 27th round of the 2004 amateur entry draft. He played his first professional season for the rookie-level Arizona League Angels that season. In 2005, he again played for Arizona and the rookie-level Orem Owlz. After playing one more season for the Arizona Angels in 2006, he was released.
In 2007, Maldonado signed a minor league contract with the Brewers and played for the Class A West Virginia Power. He played for the Class A-Advanced Brevard County Manatees and Double-A Huntsville Stars in 2008 and began the 2009 season with the Manatees, but was called up to Triple-A Nashville mid-season. However he returned to the Manatees to finish out the 2009 season.
Maldonado played the majority of 2010 with Nashville, but also spent time with Huntsville and Brevard County.
