Martin Corey was born in O'Neill's Terrace Lurgan, Co. Armagh. In 1973, he took part in an ambush on the Royal Ulster Constabulary in Aghalee along with two other men. Two RUC officers Constable Raymond Wylie and Constable Robert McCauley died in the ambush.
Martin Corey was 19 years of age at the time, he was sentenced to life imprisonment in December 1973.
He spend the next 19 years in jail. He remained in prison after the release of the two other men as he refused to sign an agreement under the governments early release scheme, he served his full sentence. . He was finally released in June 1992
For the Next 18 years he worked in his own business as a grave digger and became a respected member of the community until without reason being given, he was taken back into custody on April 16 this year 2010.
No Reason has still been given to Martin at the time or since his return to jail. A legal campaign is currently under way to secure his release
