Medal record Competitor for Switzerland Men's rowing Olympic Games Gold 1996 Atlanta Lightweight double sculls Markus Gier (born 1 January 1970) is a Swiss competition rower and Olympic champion. He hails from Sankt Gallen.
Together with his brother Michael Gier Gier won a gold medal in lightweight double sculls, at the 1996 Summer Olympics.[1] The two brothers also competed at the 2000 Summer Olympics in Sydney, where they finished 5th.
He was in the Silver Medal LM4x in Bled 1989 along with Ueli Bodenmann.
