Markus is the professional name of the first male legal prostitute in the United States of America. He worked for a few weeks at the beginning of 2010 at a legal brothel in Nevada. He was born in Lawrence County, Alabama; his real name is not known to the public. In January 2010, when he was 25 years old, he was hired at the Shady Lady Ranch, a legal brothel in Nevada, which successfully applied for a work permit for him.[1] Previously, he had worked as a U.S. Marine and as a pornographic actor. He prefers to be termed a gigolo (and in an interview with Details had compared himself to Rosa Parks); in Nevada, he is referred to as the "prostidude."[2][3][4][5][6][7][8] He only worked for female customers.[2] He left the prostitution business a few weeks later, in March 2010, after drawing fewer than 10 customers.[9][10]
