- Marketroid
-
Marketroid is a derogatory term usually referring to marketers, by combination with droid (implying that marketers are something less than human). Used fairly frequently in the computing community, particularly for marketing divisions of companies in response to frequent vaporware announcements and other unrealistic claims. The Jargon File (version 4.4.7; public domain) has a somewhat less generous description that it's someone inside the marketing department. In particular someone that promises that the next incarnation of a product will be able to do things that will not actually be implemented, are unrealistic hard to accomplish, or are in violation of the law of physics, or describes the features in an ebullient, buzzword-laden adspeak way.[1][2][3][4]
