Mark Henry (born 1968) is an American urban fantasy author who spent twelve years working as a psychotherapist before receiving a contract for his first novel, Happy Hour of the Damned. Then titled The Undead Socialite's Guide to Nightlife, the novel, starring celebrity zombie Amanda Feral, the book won Henry not only a single book contract, but the promise of two sequels. The second, Road Trip of the Living Dead, released in 2009. "Amanda Feral is the new Stephanie Plum," proclaimed Tez Miller in her review of Happy Hour of the Damned on the Urban Fantasy Land blog.[1] In a review of Road Trip of the Living Dead, Alana Abbott of FlamesRising.com wrote, "The things that made Happy Hour fun: snarky commentary, interludes from the other characters, and the occasional breaking of the fourth wall are all back in full force."[2]

Henry has said that he was inspired to write about zombie glamour because of a long abiding love for the zombie genre. "I asked myself what if the Sex and the City girls ended up rising from the dead with a craving for flesh? What would that be like?" he explained on his website.[3] His first Amanda Feral story appeared in a small press anthology, and he has been writing about zombie glamor ever since.

Along with his fiction, Henry is an active blogger both at his own blog[4] and at the group urban fantasy blog, League of Reluctant Adults,[5] along with fellow urban fantasist Anton Strout. He is a co-founder of that group and the writer's group, The South Sound Algonquin, as well as a member the Pacific Northwest Writer’s Association and the Fangs, Fur and Fey[6] online writer’s community.
