Maria Teresa Sobieska

Maria Teresa Sobieska (born 18 October 1673 in Gniew, died 7 December 1675 in Zhovkva) - Polish princess, daughter of King John III Sobieski and Marie Casimire Louise de La Grange d'Arquien.

Biography

Maria Teresa was called Menonka by her parents. When her father became king, he decided to baptize his two daughters during the coronation celebrations. Her godparents were the King of England, Charles II, and the Queen of France, Maria Theresa of Spain. However, the girl died a few months before the coronation of her father, awaiting baptism. His beloved daughter's death plunged Sobieski into deep despair, which he expressed in the letters written by he and his wife during this period. Maria Teresa Sobieska was buried in the parish church in Zhovkva.
