Margaret O'Connor ,Gaelic name Máirgréag Ní Chearbhaill , (Date of birth unknown - died 1451, Killeigh, Ireland) , was an Irish queen , wife of Calvagh O'Connor Faly the king of Uí Fáilghe (anglicized as Offaly) and patron of literature and the arts.
She is recorded in the Annals of Connacht , as being "the darling of all the Leinster people," having "made most causeways, churches, books, chalices, and all articles useful for the service of the church." [1]
In 1433, she hosted two magnificent feasts at the Feast of Dasinchell, inviting poets, musicians, and historians from all over Ireland and Scotland. For this she earned the affectionate title "Margaret of the Hospitality." [1][2][3]
The Annals record that she died of a "cancer in the breast" in 1451. [1]
