Marek Dochnal

Marek Dochnal (born September 16, 1961 in Tarnów) is a Polish businessman and polo player.

In 1990 he founded a company called Proxy with Sergei Gavrilov, a Russian banker who held a passport from Belize.[1] In 1993 Marek Dochnal co-founded the company called Chemico, which was to take over chemical and fuel businesses, but never did. In 1994 he founded the company Larchmont Capital, engaged in advising foreign companies investing in Poland. Among his clients were Lakshmi Mittal. Dochnal helped in PHS steel group privatization, which was Poland's largest. Mittal now controls PHS steel group.[2]

He was connected to the Orlengate in which £40 million in bribes were allegedly paid to senior Polish politicians by Russian energy giants.[2] Politicians linked to Dochnal reportedly had Swiss bank accounts handled by Peter Vogel.[3]

He allegedly bribed Democratic Left Alliance politician Andrzej Pęczak in exchange for information about privatization of Polish energy sector.[1]
